HattiWatt
A happy and energetic new year to HattiWatt users!
The new year is a good moment to pause and look at how the electricity market and the HattiWatt app have developed, and how these changes show up in everyday life. Recently HattiWatt has been updated several times with improvements that make electricity price tracking more accurate and easier to understand.
One of the most important improvements in HattiWatt is the Production page, where users can follow the state of the electricity system in more detail than before. The page shows how electricity is produced and consumed in real time across different production types. This helps explain why prices vary and what factors affect them at each moment. Especially in winter, HattiWatt helps users understand the balance between consumption and production when cold spells increase demand and production can change with the weather.
At the beginning of last October, the electricity exchange moved to 15-minute price periods, which was also a major change for the HattiWatt app. Renewable production, such as wind and solar power, varies more than traditional baseload generation, so following the market requires a denser time interval. HattiWatt uses 15-minute tracking to give users a more realistic picture of price changes.
This change is also visible in the app structure and views. Price data is now based on more precise tracking, so HattiWatt users can time their electricity use better during the day. This is especially useful for spot-price electricity users, because price changes have a direct effect on everyday costs.
The updates have also brought new widgets to HattiWatt, making the most important information visible directly on the phone home screen. Widgets make the app quicker and smoother to use, without always opening it separately.
HattiWatt keeps developing so following electricity prices stays easy, clear and genuinely useful. Thank you to all HattiWatt users for your feedback and active use. That helps the app improve in the future too.
Winter greetings from Maria and @hattiwattapp
